The project “Performing Collections Performing Archives: Creative Afterlives of the Findings, Photographs and Writings of the Swedish Cyprus Expedition” is organizing a colloquium among researchers, museum professionals and artists entitled “Artistic Practices in Colonial Museum and Archival Collections: Retellings and Reframings”. The colloquium will examine the current decolonizing affordances of artistic practices in colonial collections and archives. It will also map the existing artistic practices related to colonial museum and archival collections from Cyprus.

The colloquium is organised in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities Cyprus.

During the colloquium, project artistic directors Dr. Ellada Evangelou and Dr. Despo Pasia will also present the Performative Audio Walk created for the Medelhavsmuseet Cyprus Collection in Stockholm which will remain at the museum.

The colloquium and audio walk are parallel activities to the theatrical performance that the project presents at the Medelhavsmuseet on March 17 and 18, 2026.
