“Chronoplous” is a musical performance that explores time, memory, and the cultural identity of Cyprus through a creative dialogue between tradition and contemporary orchestration. With six classical instruments—flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, violin, and cello—beloved Cypriot traditional songs such as “To Yasemin” and “Tessera tzia Tessera” are sonically refreshed, while the performance also incorporates Slovak traditional themes, creating a dynamic and fertile intercultural encounter between Cyprus and Slovakia. Narration functions as a central element, accompanying the musical journey and linking the soundscape of the past with that of the present. The musicians are: Natalie Neophytou (oboe), Evangelos Christodoulou (bassoon/narrator), Anna Pavlou (flute), Nikola Janjic (clarinet), Nihat Agdac (violin), and Gurhan Nuray (cello), with musical direction and orchestration by Neoclis Neophytides. The performance will take place at Moyses Hall of Comenius University with a duration of 60 minutes.
The event is carried out within the framework of the Programme “Events at Embassies of the Republic of Cyprus abroad”, in the context of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026.
