ChamberFusion Ensemble, guided by the arrangements of Neoklis Neophytides, unite to embark on a reimagined musical odyssey through the realm of Cypriot traditional music, employing classical musical instruments.
Traditional melodies spanning wedding songs (Wedding Song, The Dance of the Bride and Groom), dance circle (The Dance of the Sickle, Mandra, Karotseris), and folk ballads (Psindri Vasilitsia mou, Aegia Kotsini, Tessera tzi kai tessera, Tilirkohtissa) intertwine seamlessly with Cypriot poetry written by Dimitris Lipertis, Michalis Pashiardis, and Costas Montis, masterfully composed by Cypriot music virtuosos such as Achilleas Lympouridis, Vasos Argyridis, Costas Kakoyiannis, and Evagoras Karageorgis.
Well-accomplished Cypriot musicians both within Cyprus and on international stages, present a selection of pieces that celebrate the rich musical heritage of Cyprus, complemented by contemporary compositions of local composers. Accompanied by the mellifluous voice of Anna Aristeidou , this performance is enhanced by digital scenography expertly crafted by Constantinos Terlikkas who draws inspiration from the lyrical essence of the chosen melodies and songs.
The classical wind and string instruments underline the international character of Cypriot folk music tradition echoing the sentiments of Odysseas Elytis about the significance of Cyprus’ tradition, “…Our soul, as manifested through Tradition, is a profound affair…”
