The Dance Group of the Cultural Association Diástasis presents a new artistic creation entitled “Upright Human”, a performance that seeks to shed light on the contemporary human condition through the power of movement and music. 

The original music accompanying the work was composed especially for the performance by composer Neoklis Neofytidis, while the choreographies bear the signature of the group’s choreographers, who explore new modes of expression by combining physicality with emotion and reflection. 

The work “Upright Human” is a deeply human and poetic reflection on the person of today: a developed individual with abilities and prospects, who nevertheless often finds himself fallen amid ruins—the ruins of the surrounding world as well as those of his own inner conflicts. In an era of constant wars and upheavals, the human being struggles to stand upright: he crawls, rises, falls again, experiencing moral and value-based erosion. At the same time, he is confronted with new fears and challenges, such as the danger posed by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and the threat of replacement, even annihilation. 

Through movement, the body becomes the canvas upon which these questions are inscribed: What does it mean to be human today? How do you face challenges? And above all, how do you remain upright?
